Sean Morgan Continues His Fundraising Efforts

At work                        Singing with the street musicians in Indonesia

I got involved with SCF in 2009 and have supported the charity ever since.  It’s a very small non denominational charity with income from donations and fundraisers amounting to just over 30,000 pds last year.  All the money that we raise goes to the kids and I can agree on specific projects to support, and that was important to me.

On my Facebook profile it asks “who inspires you most” well to me it’s the people I have met (more recently) who with very little materialistically can still find time to smile, laugh, sing and dance, especially the children . When people then tell me that they probably know no better, I now wonder if what we perceive as 'better', really is?

What I've done so far as a fundraiser for Sacred Childhoods:

2009 FUNDRAISER - With my family and friends we raised 5000pds + from donations

2010 FUNDRAISER - With the help of my family and friends in Saxlingham Nethergate Norfolk we held a quiz night and raised 2000pds+

The money raised here paid for a little orphanage in Sulawesi to be renovated, plus toys (their first ever!), kitchen equiptment and sanitary supplies.  To see photos and find out more about the project follow the link at the bottom of this page entitled 'web link, Forgotten Orphanage'.

2011 FUNDRAISER - From immediate family members and Richard Daillys half marathon we are up to 1300pds with a target of 5000pds but with this page completed I shall be asking my expat friends out here for donations. Also Richard, an expat relation in Hong Kong along with myself are selling our Norwich City season ticket seats…COME ON YOU YELLOWS

IF YOU HAVE READ THIS FAR PLEASE DONATE…………I ALSO DESPARATELY NEED TWO OR THREE OF MY FRIENDS (LIKE RICHARD DID) TO ORGANISE A FUNDRAISER USING THER OWN NETWORKS OF FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS AND I WOULD LOVE SOMEONE TO JOIN ME IN INDONESIA NEXT YEAR WHEN I GO BACK OUT THERE!

We are now raising money to pay for one of the houses that the children will live in at The Sanctuary.  To find out more, follow the second link below entitled 'web link, The Sanctuary'.

Here's A Little Bit Of Profile On Me...

MY BACKGROUND

Is in the Hospitality Industry (Hotels, Restaurants, Bars, Serviced Apartments and Offices) in Europe, North America, and more recently in Asia. I now realize I was fortunate to have a spare year between “proper jobs” when the company I was working for in India ran out of funding. I am now back working fulltime in Kazakhstan but fully intending to continue my support for the kids in Indonesia.

MY INTERESTS

-Travelling generally to meet and talk with people I really enjoy this irrespective of ethnic background or religion which often so mistakenly divides people around the world. I find so much in common with so many people and am always amazed at the importance parents give to the education of their children .That’s why it follows to help children who might never have had a role model in life.

-Nearly all sports, watching more now than playing, as I still find it very frustrating  in  knowing what to do but my body taking no notice whatsoever.

-Kids education of course in developing countries, although I am selfish really as I have found my involvement to have become so rewarding.

-Laughing Smiling Singing Dancing

Lastly I particularly want to thank everyone who has donated especially my family, my children gave so much more than they could ever afford. I guess Deb and I did bring them up right after all. Richard Dailly who has used his network to raise money for his Half Marathon, Bob, Trudi Paul, Andrew, Nigel, Linda, my ex company Avanta and Dennis Hearn -THANK YOU!

Sean, you've been an absolute superstar at fundraising for Sacred Childhoods over the past few years.  I hope your friends and family will continue to support us, and I hope some of your colleagues will step up to the meaningful challenge of organising a fundraising event of their own!  The money really does get to the kids, we don't pay big western salaries, and our accounts are checkable and verifiable.  So there's no room for cynicism - let's focus on the fact that there are children out there who need our support!
