Laude School in Spain Makes Us Their Charity of the Year!
Laude International School in San Pedro, Southern Spain, has made Sacred Childhoods their Charity of the Year! Yesterday Natalia gave a presentation to teachers discussing the projects and different ideas for fundraising throughout this academic year.
It was decided that the Primary School would raise money for the little orphanage in Sulawesi that Sacred Childhoods is helping to support. The children are not actually orphans; their parents are still alive but live in the poorest and most drought-prone region and were so desperate that they felt forced to give some of their children away to the orphanage. Sadly, this is quite common in Indonesia due to the widespread poverty. So the Sacred Childhoods team want to take the children on the long journey back to their villages to be reunited with their families for a week or so. I think the students at Laude will get a huge sense of satisfaction at knowing they have helped to make this possible.
The Secondary school students will be finding out about human slavery and the fact that there are more human slaves in the world today than ever before in history! They will learn about The Sanctuary, an eco-village that Sacred Childhoods is creating in a secret location in Bali, to protect and support children who have been rescued from traffickers. It will be an emotional but important journey for the students at Laude, who we hope will make a stand and do what they can to help bring an end to child slavery around the world. Their fundraising efforts will go towards the building of one of the houses at The Sanctuary, which we will name Laude House.
The staff at Laude are all feeling very positive that the united efforts of the school's teachers, students and parents can have a large and meaningful impact of the lives of children who are far less fortunate.
