free English lessons to the village children living close to The Sanctuary

In the last couple of months we have started offering free English classes to all the children living in the villages surrounding The Sanctuary.  We weren't sure how many would come, or what the reaction from the community would be but we were very suprised!  The first class had about 10 children, the second about 15 and now we are currently up to about 30 children and have had to split the classes into two groups.

Some of the fathers were even sitting on the side lines wanting to learn English too.  The children are enthusiastic and keen to learn, knowing that if they can speak English they may well get a job in tourism in the future, rather than farming which is poorly paid and difficult if the crops fail.

It is wonderful to see The Sanctuary helping children even before the project has properly started.  The English classes will continue even when the other children come to live at The Sanctuary so that they can all play and learn together.
