Become a Global Guardian

In this day and age we are truly global citizens.  We can travel any where in the world, we can communicate with people almost anywhere, and we are part of a global economy.  We are also becoming globally conscious; aware of our role in protecting the environment, creating sustainable lives, and supporting those less fortunate than ourselves. 

But some people take it upon themselves to combine their ability to travel, communicate and create funding with a conscious decision to ‘do their bit’; to contribute their time, energy and resources to something truly meaningful. 

Some of these people have become involved with Sacred Childhoods and over time they have developed a sense of guardianship not only towards the children but also to the organisation and team as a whole.  These Global Guardians, as we have come to call them, invariably end up supporting many vulnerable children through simple, honest and discrete dedication. 

Because our Global Guardians are based in many countries around the world (including the UK, America, Canada, Australia, Spain, Germany, Holland & Singapore to name but a few) we realised that it would be helpful for them all to be able to communicate easily through our website. 

Our Global Guardians receive a personal invitation together with their login information and can then proceed to creating their own profile page with their photo, some information about themselves and which Sacred Childhoods projects they're closely involved with. 

Global Guardians can then enter the Global Living Room, where they can blog and instant message each other as well as sharing photos of their time volunteering in Indonesia or of recent fundraising events that they've held for example.  It is fast becoming a valuable space for the Global Guardians to tell each other about their forthcoming trips to Indonesia, hear about the latest news and meetings, and to keep in touch with the team and other Global Guardians. 

This Global Village adds a new dimension to the idea of 'social networking'; with the emphasis here being on the social purpose of peoples' communications.  There are strict Terms and Conditions to safeguard against abuse of this facility and membership is by private invitation only.  Some of the posts in the Global Living Room are shared publicly on the Global Village page so that you can get a sense of the group but most posts are restricted to the Global Living Room to allow our members to communicate freely within the privacy of the group.

Personal invitations to become a Global Guardian are usually based on an ongoing involvement with Sacred Childhoods.  There is no fee to join but Global Guardians have usually participated in fundraising efforts and/or have volunteered with us in Indonesia and they show a clear commitment to helping the projects and the children long term.
