Funding Overview
Now I'm not aware of a single other charity which does this but we've decided it's high time that charities keep 100% transparent and open accounts. So here's how it works:
You make a donation; we receive it; we send you a lovely thank you email and discuss which project or operational costs need funding at the moment. You then tell us where you would prefer your money to go to; we add your name, the amount and how it will be spent on our website; you check that it's right; within a week or so you can see the money added to our quarterly budgets and in our online accounts; a little later you will receive news bulletins of how that project is progressing and what your money is actually doing on the ground, complete with photos (and if you've created a Social Investment Fund we'll send you quarterly financial reports talking in more detail about the projects' successes and challenges). Then at the end of the year you can check our annual accounts which are audited by The UK Charity Commission...just to make sure your money really got to where it was supposed to.
Now how does that sound?!?
So on these inside pages of the Funding section of our website you can find out about absolutely everything: this quarter's budgets; the forecast budgets for the coming year; all our Annual Accounts Reports, our Trustee Reports, and a full list of who has donated what (unless they wanted to stay anonymous!). You can also be really nosy and find out how much we pay in salaries, how much our phone bill is, what advertising and marketting we pay for and what we've put on 'expenses'. We've got nothing to hide so please do have a good look around! For those of you who are jaded or sceptical about how charities spend their money then all I can say is that if our efforts don't prove to you that your money is being well-spent then I don't know what will!
Many Thanks,
