Sacred Childhoods has volunteers ‘in the field’ studying
the situations of children on various islands across Indonesia. The
volunteers provide vital feedback about the state of existing children’s
projects and report where they find a critical need for more projects
and orphanages to be created. With sufficient donations Sacred
Childhoods would like to launch a number of orphanages in crisis areas
over the next five years.
Research is also important for understanding the scale of the problems
faced by the people of Indonesia. Whilst the problems experienced
in Africa are extreme there is also a lot of media attention and awareness,
by comparison it could be argued that Indonesia has been somewhat forgotten.
Sacred Childhoods will be publishing a number of papers revealing the
conditions in which Indonesians survive and the need for international
assistance in the quarterly magazine.
