Increasing Independence
Sacred Childhoods believes that it is important to support the leaders
of local communities who have taken the initiative to start their own
children’s projects. Many of the Indonesian men and women
who have created children’s projects in their communities do not
have an understanding of the internet and its power to raise awareness
and funds. Sacred Childhood’s volunteers who have experience
in IT will soon be helping them to set up their own websites and gain
independence.
Sacred Childhoods is also in talks with members of the Indonesian Government
to try to bridge the gap between remote children’s projects and
Government officials who can arrange to provide some long term subsidiary
funding. Helping existing grass roots projects run by local Indonesians
allows them to sustain themselves in the long term.
This enables
Sacred Childhoods to move on to support other projects and create new
ones where needed.
