Policies

Our policies are a vital cornerstone of our daily practice; they represent our honest, integral and transparent commitment to the children, to donors, and to the general public.

  1. The child’s needs are at the centre of everything that we do
  2. The way in which we communicate with everyone is open, honest and integral
  3. The way we go about doing anything is transparent: our accounts, budgets, trustee reports and funding requirements are all posted on our website for anyone to inspect
  4. We are fully accountable to the children who we support, to donors and to the general public
  5. We do not take grants from large organisations or governments (leaving us free from political agendas and compromising bureaucracy)
  6. We do not employ third party organisations to fundraise on our behalf (ensuring there are no ‘hidden costs’ attached to donations)
  7. We do not hand out cash to any third party organisation and any thing we provide such as cloths, mattresses, etc we deliver directly to the children (thereby safeguarding against corruption)
  8. The senior management team and trustees work entirely for free and the staff in Indonesia are paid a fair local wage.  When we need extra help in the UK (i.e. for fundraising events) we hire interns who receive a small stipend or volunteer their time.  We do not pay any large salaries
  9. Our administration and operational costs are kept to an absolute minimum and most months are covered entirely by our Volunteers Program
  10. In year 1 and year 2 95% of donations went directly to the children.  We have every intention of continuing this for year 3 and thereafter
  11. Donors who create a Social Investment Fund receive quarterly financial reports and news updates including photos/video of their money in action
  12. Feedback is given to each and every donor who has subscribed
  13. We create a mix of aid-based projects and business-model initiatives to compliment the different needs of each community that we support to minimize aid-dependency.
  14. The design and implementation of our projects is carefully analysed and evaluated by all members of the team including those on the ground and the trustees
  15. We rely on local staff to guide us in all areas of our work on the ground, paying close attention to the cultural, religious and historical influences associated with the groups of children that we support
  16. We are very careful about the images and words that we use to portray any group of children and their community.  We always try to show the children’s needs without undermining their strength, courage and dignity
